Course Overview

UI/UX Design

A design system is a product with its own users, and this course treats it that way. You will define design tokens for colour, type, spacing, and elevation, build a component library with clear props and states, and document usage rules including what not to do. The course covers accessibility baked into components, versioning and change communication, working with developers so design and code stay in step, and measuring adoption so the system earns the effort it costs.

Learning Path

Each level is enrolled separately. Work through them in order, or start at the level that matches your experience.

01
Level 01

Beginner

Purpose

Understand what a design system is, what it contains, and when a project actually needs one.

Outcome

You can decide whether a design system is worth building and where to start.

What You'll Learn
  • Learn the difference between a style guide, a component library, and a design system
  • Audit an existing product to find inconsistency
  • Define the smallest useful starting scope

02
Level 02

Intermediate

Purpose

Define the foundations, because tokens and naming decide how far a system will stretch.

Outcome

You can define a token layer that keeps design and code speaking the same language.

What You'll Learn
  • Create design tokens for colour, type, spacing, radius, and elevation
  • Name tokens so their purpose is obvious to designers and developers
  • Build primitive components on top of those tokens

03
Level 03

Advanced

Purpose

Build and document a component library that other people can use without asking you.

Outcome

You can ship a documented component library a team can adopt immediately.

What You'll Learn
  • Design components with clear properties, states, and composition rules
  • Write usage documentation that includes what not to do
  • Bake accessibility into components rather than adding it later

04
Level 04

Expert

Purpose

Govern a living system so it keeps up with the product instead of being abandoned.

Outcome

You can run a design system as a product with users, a roadmap, and measured adoption.

What You'll Learn
  • Set contribution, review, and deprecation processes with clear owners
  • Version the system and communicate breaking changes ahead of time
  • Track adoption and gather feedback from the teams using it
